ROCKY RIVER, Ohio – The wife of Indians closing pitcher Chris Perez plead no contest to a reduced charge Tuesday morning and was fined $150.

Melanie Perez was found guilty by Rocky River Municipal Judge Brian Hagan.

Perez was allowed to plea to a minor misdemeanor charge because she passed a drug test.

She and her husband were arrested in June on a misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance after investigators tracked a package to their home that contained marijuana.

The package was addressed to Brody Baum – the family dog.

Chris Perez plead no contest earlier this month, and was fined and placed on probation.  As part of his sentence, Chris Perez must also speak to Rocky River students about the dangers of drug use.

Rocky River Prosecutor Michael O’Shea says both Melanie and Chris Perez were treated the same as anyone else facing similar charges.
