Police HQ Reopened After Reported Explosion

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Columbus Police Department announced the scene of a reported explosion at their headquarters is now clear.

The department says the incident was related to a construction project.

The CPD confirmed the information via their official Twitter account.

The tweet reads: "HQ is all clear. Thanks to all our LE and FD partners. "Explosion" was related to area construction project. HQ reopening now."

FOX 28 in Columbus had reported that a worker smelled gunpowder before a loud bang was heard inside the building on Marconi Boulevard.

The report came in at about 7:30 p.m.
