DELAWARE, Ohio — An Akron marathon runner is using her love of running to support a local charity.

Jane Spelich is registered for the Akron Half Marathon 2013 on Saturday, September 29 and is running to support Canine Companions for Independence.

The organization is the first and largest charity in the United States that provides assistance dogs for people of all ages with disabilities. Spelich’s mother, Jane, is one of thousands of individuals who have benefited from Canine Companions.

Spelich will be running on Team Titus for the marathon, named after her mother’s service dog. Titus will also join Spelich around mile 11 during the race.

Canine Companions provides the service animals for free. For more information about the charity, and to learn more about Jane Spelich, click here.
