NORTH CANTON, Ohio — Advocates for a local victim assistance program have organized a 5K run and walk to raise funds and awareness for their cause.

The Miles for Mandy non-profit organization is hosting the fourth annual Miles for Mandy 5K Run & Walk on Sunday, October 20 in North Canton’s Dogwood Park. Packet pick-up and race day registration is 7 a.m. to 8:45 a.m., and the event is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.

Registration before Wednesday, October 16 is $15 for attendees 13 and under and $20 for attendees 14 and older. Families of four may register before October 16 for $55, families of five for $70 and families of six for $85.

Registration is $25 for all attendees registering on or after October 16, and no family registration will be available after October 16.

In addition, event t-shirts will be available for those registering through October 15.

Proceeds from the event will help Stark County’s Prosecutor’s Office Outreach Services purchase materials. So far, organizers say the event has donated nearly $15,000 since inception.

The Miles for Mandy 5K Walk & Run was created in honor of 13-year-old Amanda Druckenbrod, who died in 1995.
