Police Chief’s Wife Accused of Shoplifting Again
AVON, Ohio — The North Ridgeville police chief’s wife has been arrested again on a shoplifting charge.
Avon police confirm Elaine Freeman was arrested at Kohl’s around 11:30 Monday. She was with her child at the time.
Chief Mike Freeman says the matter is a “personal family issue” that he is working on with his wife.
North Ridgeville Mayor David Gillock says Elaine Freeman’s arrest will not impact her husband’s job. He says the chief is doing a good job.
Avon police say Elaine Freeman was cooperative and was released after being processed. According to reports, she took several clothing items and a wall decoration.
She is facing a misdemeanor theft charge and is due in court Thursday.
This is Elaine Freeman’s second arrest.
She was arrested last November for a similar charge at the Target in Avon.
