NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) -- A can named Buddha is hitting the treadmill to slim down.
The cat tipped the scales at 31 pounds when he was taken in at a Nashville shelter after his owner died. That's double the size of a normal cat.
Shelter workers were shocked, so they placed Buddha on a strict diet and help him with underwater exercises three days a week.
The water holds up the cat's weight and is easier on his joints. He's built up his endurance so much he can walk on the treadmill for 12 minutes at a time.
So far, he's gone from 31.4 pounds to 26.8.
