CLEVELAND- A birthday miracle.

That's what people who helped Toni Landers celebrate her 13th birthday were calling it, Wednesday night.

Toni was playing in a Cleveland park when she was caught in the crossfire of a gunfight in late May. A bullet struck her in the back.

A brave cousin rescued her and rushed her to Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital.

At the time, nobody was sure if she would reach her next birthday.

But she did and she celebrated her 13th birthday in style at Cleveland's Greater Abyssinia Baptist Church.

Black on Black Vice President Alfred Porter, Junior said, "I'm very thankful for this event because so many times I go to places, different happenings and it is mainly a tragedy. So I am thankful for this event because it is a miracle."

A choir sang as Toni entered the church with family members. Later, she said, "God's kept me here to reach the age of 13. I'm just happy. Thankful for that."

Toni's family is still dealing with medical expenses related to the shooting. People at the party contributed money to help with the family's medical bills.
