Police said the suspicious device resembled a pipe bomb and was hanging from a tree.

Bomb technicians were called to the scene and tried to destroy the device, but couldn’t. They took it to a different location where they were able to x-ray the device and determine it did not contain any explosive material.

The device contained items consistent with what is believed to be part of an outdoor treasure hunting game called Geocaching.

Police said the person(s) who placed the device at the location could face criminal charges.
