MAYFIELD HEIGHTS, Ohio — The Mayfield Heights Police Department issued a warning to residents after a woman reported a possible scam.

Two men allegedly tried to gain access to her home by posing as water department employees and asking to check the water pressure.

It happened Wednesday on Enfield Drive.

When a woman answered a knock at the door, one of the men put his foot inside, prompting her to push him away.

The men were seen in the area but no other incidents were reported.

Because legitimate water workers were around the city, police believe the men were hoping to be perceived as one of them.

Police reminded people in the community not to let any uninvited workers into their homes.  When a utility worker is expected, be sure to check their credentials.
