Local Hospitals Ranked Best in the Nation

CLEVELAND – Two local hospitals rank among the top medical institutions in the country, according to the latest survey rankings released by U.S. News & World Report.

The Cleveland Clinic and University Hospitals top the list at fourth and 18th place out of 5,000 hospitals across the nation, with the Clinic ranking first overall for cardiology and heart surgery. Cleveland Clinic ranks in the top 10 in a total of 14 out of 16 areas of medicine.

University Hospitals is nationally ranked in 12 areas of medicine, including cancer, cardiology and heart surgery, and gastroenterology and GI surgery.

Cleveland Clinic and University Hospitals also round out the state in first and second place; Akron General Hospital ranks fifth and MetroHealth Medical Center ranks seventh.

The report surveyed nearly 10,000 specialists, which ranks 5,000 of the nation’s hospitals.
