Police: Officer Shoots Dog After it Bites Him

PAINESVILLE, Ohio– Police in Painesville said one of its officers shot a dog during a drug bust after the dog bit him.

Around 4 p.m. Friday, police were executing a narcotics search warrant on Henry Street.

Authorities said when they entered the home, a dog bit a member of the Painesville Police Warrant Entry Team; the dog was shot twice by the officer during the attack.

The officer was treated for his injuries at a local hospital and released.

The Lake County Dog Warden responded to the scene and took custody of the injured dog.

A 34-year-old was arrested for trafficking in heroin and possession of heroin; a 20-year old was arrested for an outstanding warrant.
