Bear Spotted Several Times in Summit County

SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Police in Springfield Township, Summit County were contacted several times Monday morning after residents encountered a black bear in the area.

According to Captain Ken Ray, the first report was made at 4 a.m.

At that time, the bear was roaming around the Canton Road area.

Around 7 a.m., officers spotted the bear just south of Springfield High School along Canton Road.

It was last seen wandering into a wooded area near the school.

At the time of this report, the bear had not been seen since.

While they are generally not aggressive, people are reminded to avoid the bears.

Several are believed to be roaming the area at this time.
