CLEVELAND-- We all want to lose weight fast, and now a new diet claims to do just that.

It’s called “The 100.” You can eat pretty much anything you want, as long as you limit yourself to 100 sugar calories a day. Creator, Jorge Cruise, said by doing that, you can lose up to 18 lbs in two weeks.

“I don’t think that would work. I mean how would you know when you get to 100 sugar calories?” said skeptic Christopher Kent.

Cruise offers a formula for that in his book; he also breaks down the science of food and gives a list of recipes.

The diet seems pretty simple; but experts say it’s really not. Take an apple, for example; it has about 80 sugar calories. That’s almost your max for the entire day.

“It’s a problem because you’re eliminating huge food groups. You’re eliminating whole grains, rice, fruits, and many vegetables,” said clinical dietician Angela Majerle with MetroHealth Medical Center.

She admitted you’ll see results, but not the kind you want.

"The initial six to eight pounds you might lose in that first week is water weight; it's not fat weight at all,” she said.
