CLEVELAND — A teen says she fought off a would-be kidnapper when the man grabbed her as she walked down a Cleveland street.

Cleveland police said the incident happened around midnight Monday near Western Avenue and West 95th Street.

An 18-year-old woman told police she was walking westbound on Western Avenue when a grey or silver SUV pulled up next to her. The driver, described as a clean-shaven man in his mid-20’s, asked the teen if she wanted a ride.

She said, “no.”

That’s when, according to police, the driver got out of his vehicle, opened his passenger door and grabbed the girl. As the man tried to push her inside, the teen says she “kicked him in the groin area,” causing him to let go of her.

The suspect took off in his car. The teen ran for help.

Officers looked for the suspect, but didn’t find him.

A detailed description of the suspect and his vehicle were not available.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call the Cleveland Division of Police.
