Dentist Indicted for Illegally Writing Prescriptions

CLEVELAND — A Westlake dentist has been indicted for illegally writing drug prescriptions, according to Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Timothy McGinty.

Corey J. Schmidt, of North Ridgeville, was indicted on charges of Trafficking Offenses, Insurance Fraud and Theft, according to the release from the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor

Four co-defendants were all indicted on a charge of Drug Possession. The release states the defendants obtained drugs using prescriptions written by Dr. Schmidt, although they were not his patients.
