Castro Removed From ‘Suicide Precaution’
CLEVELAND, Ohio — Alleged kidnapper and rape suspect Ariel Castro has been removed from “suicide precaution” at the Cuyahoga County Jail, according to county officials.
The 52-year-old faces four counts of kidnapping and three counts of rape. He’s accused of holding Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight captive for 10 years.
He had been placed on suicide precaution since he was arrested in early May.
Meanwhile, testing began last weekend on evidence taken from his Seymour Avenue home. It will be tested at the Ohio Attorney General’s lab in Richfield, and the results will be turned over to the Cleveland Police Department.
Some items that were taken from the home include a letter written by Castro along with ropes and chains.
