ELYRIA, Ohio — A man has been charged in his girlfriend’s death after police discovered her body Thursday afternoon, Elyria police tell Fox 8 News.

Officers were called to a home on Washington Avenue in Elyria Thursday afternoon for a well-being check on 26-year-old Lauren Moore.

Once there, they found the home in disarray, then Moore’s body in a rear bedroom. Detectives said there had been foul play, but did not reveal how she died.

Police later arrested Moore’s live-in boyfriend, 27-year-old Vernon Shallenberger. He’s been charged with one count of murder.
