Good Samaritans Rescue 4 from Capsized Boat
KELLEYS ISLAND, Ohio — Good Samaritans helped four people to safety after their boat capsized south of Kelleys Island Sunday.
According to the Coast Guard, they received a call at about 5:10 p.m. reporting that a 39-foot high-performance vessel had capsized and that four people were in the water.
When a rescue boat arrived, officials found that Good Samaritans had already pulled the four out of the water. Three of the four boaters were taken on the rescue boat back to land.
The owner remained on scene with Ohio Department of Natural Resources to continue the investigation.
One of the boaters had neck injuries but refused treatment, according to officials. No one else was injured.
Officials said the vessel remained capsized as of 8:30 p.m. Sunday.
Coast Guard officials said none of the boaters were wearing life vests, and they are not aware of alcohol being involved in the incident.
