AKRON — The U.S. Marshals Office Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force is offering a reward for a man who attempted to shoot an adult parole officer Thursday night.

The officer had just finished speaking with a resident when a man confronted him in the north stairwell on Rentar Lane at the Spring Hill Apartments.

The suspect pulled out a handgun and pointed it at the officer. The officer grabbed the gun as the suspect pulled the trigger. The gun clicked, but did not fire.

The suspect fled down the stairwell.

The SWAT team searched the apartment complex, but could not locate the suspect.

The suspect is described as a stocky black male, 5’5″-5’8″, corn row styled hair and was wearing a black tank top and black pants.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Akron Police Department. The Task Force is offering a reward of up to $10,000.
