CLEVELAND – A city police officer, who stabbed her boyfriend last year during an argument, has been fired.

Shani Hannah was terminated Wednesday.

Safety Director Martin Flask issued the termination letter stating that Hannah used a knife to inflict harm on another.

“The use of a weapon to inflict harm on another is inexcusable and unacceptable conduct by an officer of the Cleveland Division of Police,” Flask wrote in the letter.

Reports state on March 11, 2012, Hannah was arrested on a felonious assault charge. Last July, she plead guilty to a misdemeanor charge of assault. She was sentenced to probation, community service and ordered to complete an anger management program.

Union President Jeff Follmer declined to discuss the situation.
