Troopers Seize Handgun, Drugs During OVI Checkpoint
AKRON — A man is facing felony drug charges after state troopers seized drugs and a loaded handgun from his car during an OVI checkpoint.
On Friday, troopers were conducting a checkpoint on South Main Street when Noah Eskridge, 23, entered the zone. Police noticed an odor of alcohol and raw marijuana. Eskridge voluntarily surrendered a small bag of marijuana, weighing a gram. Police also uncovered eight grams of heroin, 18 ecstasy pills, a small scale and a 9mm handgun from the car.
Authorities estimate the contraband is worth $1,400.
Eskridge is charged with possession and trafficking in drugs, carrying a concealed weapon and possession of drug paraphernalia. He’s also charged with OVI.
If convicted, Eskridge could face up to 11.5 years in prison and a $25,000 fine.
