CLEVELAND, Ohio — Sunday is Mother’s Day, and the Cleveland Police Department helped some local children treat their moms to special gifts.

About a dozen children from the Cleveland Police Athletic League got a $50 gift card to go shopping for a Mother’s Day present at the Steelyard Commons Dots store Saturday.

It’s part of the store’s “Love 2 Mom” program, which gives local kids who wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford a gift the chance to pick out something special for their moms.

“Usually we would make crafts, but usually they get to do that through elementary (school),” said Babbette Taylor, of the Police Athletic League. “So this is a little bit of a passing over of being a little older and more mature and get mom something she’ll really appreciate.”
