911 Call: ‘I’m Here; I’m Free Now’

CLEVELAND — Dispatchers received a chilling 911 call just before 6 p.m. Monday from Amanda Berry.

Berry told dispatchers that she had been missing for ten years; she was free now and begged for help from police:

Dispatcher:  911

Amanda:  Help me, please! I’m Amanda Berry.

Dispatcher:  You need police, fire or ambulance?

Amanda:  Police!

Dispatcher:  What’s going on there?

Amanda:  I’ve been kidnapped! I’ve been missing for 10 years and I’m here and I’m free now.

Dispatcher:  Ok, and what’s your address?

Amanda:   2207 Seymour Avenue.

Dispatcher:  Looks like you’re calling me from 2210?

Amanda:  (inaudible) … I can’t hear you!

Dispatcher:  Ok, stay there with those neighbors.  Talk with police when they get there.

Amanda:  (Cries)  Ok, hello?

Dispatcher:  When they get there.

Amanda:  Ok, are they on their way right now?

Dispatcher:  Ok, as soon as we get a car open.

Amanda:   No, I need them now, before he gets back.”
