PERRY TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Two Beaver Excavating workers were killed in a crane accident Saturday at the Timken Company’s Faircrest Steel Plant, a Timken spokesperson confirmed.

The Stark County Coroner’s Office said the victims are Brian Black and Mark Tovissi.

Their ages were not available at the time of this report.

The accident happened around 12:45 p.m. at the Perry Township facility in Stark County.

Emergency crews and the police were contacted immediately, Timken said in a statement, and construction operations were suspended.

The coroner’s office told Fox 8 News the men were preparing to rig a load onto the crane, something snapped and both were killed instantly.

Out of respect for those involved, Timken also suspended its steel-making operations at the Faircrest plant.

Workers will return to their shifts in steel operations on Monday, May 6, beginning at 8 a.m.
