5 Killed in Illinois Shooting; Suspect Dead

Manchester, IL (KTVI) — The man who police believe shot and killed five people and wounded a six-year-old in Scott County, Illinois is dead.

In a news conference on Wednesday, the Illinois State Police said around 4:30 a.m. police responded to an apartment complex in Manchester, IL and found the shooting victims. A six-year-old girl was also found in the apartment alive. She was taken to an area hospital.

Witnesses told police the suspect left the scene in a white Chevy Lumina. At 7:13 a.m., a pursuit with the Illinois State Police and Winchester police started with the suspect. Shots were fired and the suspect was taken to an area hospital where he later died.

Illinois State Police investigators say the suspect had several weapons with him when he was taken into custody. They do not believe there are any other suspects.
