Man Wanted in Bank Robbery

FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Police are looking for the suspect in a bank robbery Thursday afternoon in Portage County.

The suspect entered the First Merit Bank in Franklin Township around 3:45 p.m. and approached one of the cashiers, according to Portage County Sheriff David Doak.  He presented a note saying he was armed with a gun. The suspect then fled from the bank on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.

No one was harmed during the robbery.

Authorities and a K-9 unit were able to follow a track to the nearby Campus Pointe Apartment Complex. The suspect was seen changing his clothes then fleeing on a bicycle.

Police say the suspect should be considered armed and dangerous. If you have any information, contact the Portage County Sheriff’s Office.
