Police Searching for Gunman in Fatal McDonald’s Shooting

AKRON, Ohio – Police are looking for a suspect responsible for the shooting death of a McDonald’s employee.

Police say it happened around 11:00 p.m. Saturday on West Market Street.

According to the police report, the victim was taking out the trash from the restaurant when he was confronted by a gunman. The suspect fired several shots, hitting the victim. He then fled the scene in a dark colored SUV, and headed southbound on Valley Street toward Crosby.

The victim was taken to Akron General Medical Center where he later died.

“Our entire Rubber City McDonald’s family is shocked by the tragedy at our West Market Street restaurant,” John Blickle, McDonald’s owner/operator of Rubber City McDonald’s said in a statement.  “We offer our prayers and sympathies to the family of the victim. The safety and well-being of our employees and customers is our top priority. We are cooperating with the police investigating this incident and defer any questions to them.”

The suspect is described as a medium complexioned black male, 22 to 27 years old, 5’7″ to 5’10” and weighing 150 to 180 pounds. Police say he has a mustache and was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.
