Police Make Arrest in Trotter Murder Case
CLEVELAND — Cleveland police have arrested one person in connection with the recent murder of 20-year-old Jazmine Trotter, a CPD spokesperson confirmed to Fox 8 News.
The suspect is in custody, but police have not yet released the person’s identity.
Trotter’s body was found by family members last week at an abandoned home on East 93rd Street. She had been reported missing a few days earlier by relatives.
The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office Tuesday said she died from blunt head trauma and strangulation.
A few days later, Christine Malone, 45, was found dead in a nearby field of the same cause. Her body was located about a mile away from where Trotter was found.
Police are also investigating the assault of a 20-year-old woman over the weekend, also on the city’s east side. She was able to escape and survived.
Cleveland Councilman Zack Reed, along with local pastors, will hold a news conference at 1 p.m. to ask for the three good Samaritans who interrupted the abduction of the woman on March 30 to come forward with any information.
An FBI spokesperson on Wednesday told Fox 8 News that it is not yet known if the three cases are related.
A family member told Fox 8 News that a funeral for Jazmine Trotter would be held Wednesday afternoon.
