NEW FRANKLIN, Ohio — Police have released the names of the victims from an apparent double homicide on Rex Lake Drive in New Franklin.

The bodies of Jeffrey and Margaret Schobert, husband and wife, were discovered Tuesday inside their Summit County home.

Upon arriving at the house, officers realized the seriousness of the situation and notified the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) to assist.

"We're in the process of collecting evidence now," said BCI Special Agent and Crime Scenes Unit Supervisor Dan Winterich. "It's a very, very complex scene. There's a lot to do. We'll be here quite awhile."

Winterich said about seven agents were processing all of the evidence throughout the evening Tuesday, and as a matter of standard procedure, a cyber unit was also en route.

"There's a lot of potential evidence in a case like this, an important case so we have to look at all of the evidence: fingerprints, blood, biological fluids and things like that," said Winterich.

The Summit County Medical Examiner's Office is also assisting.

At this point, investigators cannot say how long the victims were inside the home.

Police are following up on several leads.

Neighbors were stunned to see the crime scene on their street.

"It's very disturbing," said neighbor Patty Schwalbach.

Several neighbors said they were holding out hope that the victims were not the homeowners.

"Very friendly people, always working in the yard with the two labs -- one named Blue, one named Dakota," said Schwalbach.

Anyone with information on the deaths are asked to call police.
