Driver Comes Dangerously Close to Cleveland Monument

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Police have arrested the driver of a vehicle that came dangerously close to the base of the Soldiers and Sailors Monument Thursday morning.

According to dispatch officers at the Cleveland Police Department, the car went off the road just after 7 a.m. and struck a planter. It then came to rest at the base of the Soldiers and Sailors Monument. The monument was not harmed, but the car did sustain some damage.

Police say the female driving the car then fled the scene, but has since been arrested.

The incident is still under investigation.
