CLEVELAND — A stretch of I-90 that was closed for the weekend is now open in both directions, just hours before the Monday morning commute.
The westbound lanes between East 260th Street and East 152nd Street were reopened just before 2 a.m.
The eastbound lanes in the same area were up and running shortly after 9:15 p.m. on Sunday.
The portion of the road was closed beginning on Saturday morning when a truck with a raised trailer struck a pedestrian bridge.
“The accident moved the pedestrian structure off its location, completely shifted it, making the road of I-90 completely impassable, and the bridge unsafe,” explained Amanda Lee, an ODOT spokesperson for District 12.
Crews had to dismantle the bridge and clear the roadway of debris.
Police said the driver, Michael Edwards, 35, was driving the truck for Big Blue Trucking out of Warren.
Cleveland police said Edwards will be cited for all appropriate violations.
No one was hurt in the accident.
