STOW, Ohio — The Stow Police Department has a very important new officer: its third K-9, Spectrum.

Officer Erik Dirker and his partner will begin training later this month. Spectrum will be certified in drug detection, suspect apprehension and tracking.

The addition of Officer Dirker and Spectrum will allow the SPD to have a K-9 unit on each of the three patrol shifts.

The purchase and training of the department’s third K-9 unit were funded by a donation from Rick Schultz, of Spectrum Surgical.
