St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway
By Toni Garbo
FOX 8 is proud to sponsor the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Dream Home giveaway.
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is in Memphis, Tennessee and was founded by Actor Danny Thomas back on February 4, 1962. When Danny Thomas was a struggling actor, he prayed to St. Jude Thaddeus, patron saint of the hopeless, he prayed “show me my way in life and I will build you a shrine.” Once his career began to flourish, he made good on his promise. He built a hospital and research facility that would treat children regardless of race, color, creed or their family’s ability to pay. St. Jude pays for everything, including housing and meals for families staying there to be near their sick children.
About 7,800 children visit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital every year. And thousands more all over the world are helped from the research being done there and then shared with the medical world.
The daily operating cost for St Jude is $1.8 million, and it is mostly covered by public contributions. That’s where we come in. The dream home giveaway campaign is one of the biggest fundraisers for St. Jude. 23 dream homes are under construction throughout the U.S. And we are excited to be part of the one being built in our community.
Buckingham homes is building a beautiful luxury home in the Red Tail golf course community of Avon, Ohio. The home is approximately 3300 square feet, and is worth approximately $400,000.
So many wonderful vendors have donated time and building supplies to make this happen. We wanted to make this lottery as exciting for our viewers as it is for us.
Thanks to Nick Abraham Auto Mall we are giving away a car too. For those who purchase their tickets during the first month of early bird sales, all those tickets will also be entered into a drawing for a new car. The winner will get a chance to pick either a 2013 Buick Verano, 2013 Ford Fusion or a 2013 Nissan Altima.
Here’s how the drawing works:
March 20 will be the kick off for ticket sales. Only 8,000 tickets will be sold. Great odds for great prizes. Tickets cost $100.00 each. Tickets sold through April 19 will have a chance to win the car. Tickets sold after that will not be eligible to win the car. Once all 8,000 tickets are sold, that’s it. No more tickets will be available.
The drawing for all the prizes, including the dream home, will be held on June 20. To make the jackpot even sweeter we have added many other prizes thanks to wonderful donations, such as $10,000 to spend at Litehouse Pools & Spas
