ROCKY RIVER, Ohio — The Rocky River Police Department reminded its residents to always ask utility workers for identification and to call the police if you witness anything suspicious.

The warning was issued after neighbors recently reported people knocking on doors, asking to check the home for “brown water.”  No thefts were reported in connection with those incidents.

All Cleveland Water Department employees are required to carry ID from the department.

“Do not be afraid to ask!  Better yet, just close the door and immediately call the Rocky River Police Department and let us determine what these subjects are up to,” said Chief Kelly Stillman in an email to Fox 8 News.

The Rocky River Police Department may be reached at (440) 331-1234.  Dial 911 in an emergency.
