Electrical Work Installed Inside St. Jude Dream Home

AVON, Ohio — Imagine being able to move into your own dream home for a small price tag of just $100.

The 2013 St. Jude Dream Home in Avon is now 50 to 65 percent complete.

Buckingham Homes, the general contractor for the project, expects the home to be fully complete by April.

The 2,700-square-foot luxury dream home, which boasts a wine cellar, heated floors and master suite will be raffled off in just three months to one fortunate winner.

Proceeds from the $100 per ticket raffle will go directly to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, a facility that treats young cancer patients while they are trying to find a cure.

“Pretty good feeling, knowing that you’re going to help someone,” said Elliott Bock, an electrician with Milano Electrician, a company donating free labor and materials. “Obviously, if they’re down on their luck and they have bad things happening to them and you can be a part in helping them, I don’t have a problem with that at all.”

Most of the work at the construction site in the Red Tail section of Avon is being done during the most brutal of seasons.

“Through the snow, freezing cold temperatures, they’ve been here every day volunteering and keeping this house on schedule,” said Buckingham CEO Danny McMahon.

Once complete, the $400,000 home will be fully furnished by Lay-Z-boy furniture. The lucky winner will be unveiled in June.

Fox 8 is a proud sponsor of the dream house giveaway.  We will begin selling tickets for the raffle March 20.

We will bring you all the details on exactly when and how to purchase tickets in the coming weeks.
