AKRON, Ohio — A 52-year-old man is under arrest after police say he punched an officer in the face.

Akron police say officers responded to Ransom Tatum, Jr.’s Mack Street home on Friday night for a report of a fight.

Once they got there and started questioning him, he jumped up and began yelling in one of the officer’s faces, a police report stated. He was told to step back, but allegedly ignored those orders.

That’s when, according to police, Tatum punched an officer in the face.

He was arrested and charged with assault on a police officer, obstructing official business, resisting arrest and menacing.
