LORAIN COUNTY-- Most of the 600 employees returned to work Wednesday despite the fire that destroyed five acres inside Green Circle Growers.

The massive greenhouse compound is one of the largest in the Midwest servicing companies like Walmart, Giant Eagle and Home Depot with flowers, shrubbery and more.

Company executives believe the fire started in the outside storage area near a straw barn. Five acres of greenhouse structure were destroyed along with a one-acre storage barn.

Many firefighters responded very quickly and dealt with frigid temperatures. Green Circle co-owner Scott Giesbrecht thanked them for their extraordinary efforts. He also added:

"We are extremely thankful for the outpouring of support already from individuals and businesses in the surrounding community and across the country. We are also blessed to have a great team at Green Circle that is already working together to ensure any interruption of daily business is kept to a minimum. As we work through the next few days, we will keep our customer and industry partners informed of our progress in keeping their business running smoothly.”

No one was hurt in the fire.

Giesbrecht says they plan to rebuild.
