ALLIANCE– Police discovered a meth lab inside an Alliance apartment and made an arrest.

Authorities said they responded to a report of a strong chemical smell, loud noises and glass breaking at an apartment building on S. Union Ave., Monday morning.

When they got there, they found an active meth lab that appeared to have exploded.

The Alliance Fire Department said there was no fire and little damage to the apartment.

Other apartments in the building had to be evacuated so the apartment could be decontaminated.

Police later found 33-year-old Marvin Adkins at another home with serious injuries to his hand, arm and face.

Police said it’s believed that the lab exploded in Adkins’ hand as he tried to take it outside.

He was also injured when he dove through a glass window of a door that he could not open.

Adkins was arrested on charges of Illegal Manufacture of Drugs-Methamphetamine.

He was taken to the Stark County Jail on $100,000 bond.

Police said other people could be charged.
