Cleveland Movie Shoot Creates Jobs
CLEVELAND — Hollywood is coming back to Cleveland.
“Captain America: The Winter’s Soldier” will soon be filming in Ohio and Northeast Ohioans are needed to work behind the scenes.
The filming of the “Avengers” in downtown Cleveland was a blast at the box office so now filmmakers are returning to Cleveland to film the “Captain America” sequel.
Marvel Studios is now looking for about 600 people to fill film crew positions.
“They are looking for everything, it’ll be everything from different vendors to electric, hair, makeup, art department, construction, all the crew jobs that are available on any typical film,” said Ivan Schwarz of the Greater Cleveland Film Commission.
The Greater Cleveland Film Commission was instrumental in bringing the “Avengers” and “Captain America 2″ to Cleveland.
The filming will not only bring jobs to town but will also help to boost the local economy.
“We’ve been averaging about $45 million dollars a year into the economy, that’s not economic spend, that’s direct spend, so that’s basically somebody coming, backing up a dump truck, loading $45 million into the community and that trickles out,” explained Schwarz.
Marvel’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” starring Chris Evans will begin filming in Cleveland in the late spring and some people say they are excited about having the film project in our area.
“It would be wonderful to have the filming of Captain America 2 here in Cleveland, bringing business to Cleveland, especially here in downtown. The energy it creates, the vitality to the whole downtown community would be a wonderful thing,” said Jacob Fleischmann of Beachwood.
Marvel Studios is not looking for actors or extras for the flick, just crew positions.
“Captain America: The Winter Soldier” is scheduled for release in May of 2014.
