Police Crack ’97 Murder Cold Case in Ashtabula

ASHTABULA, Ohio — Six arrest warrants relating to the Feb. 9, 1997 Ashtabula murder of Ronald “Maceo” Hull were issued Tuesday.

Hull was found dead from gunshot wounds in the area of 1017 W. 38th St.

Police believe the motive of the murder was illegal narcotics transactions and money.

Ashtabula County Sheriff’s detectives and the U.S. Marshal’s Service Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force executed the warrants.

The six warrants are for aggravated murder, kidnapping and felonious assault.

Those facing charges are John E. Drummond Jr., George L. Church, Jawann M. Evans, Troy Jones, Eric Weaver, and Stephen Boles.

Drummond is currently serving a prison sentence.

Police are still searching for Evans.
