LAKEWOOD-- Lakewood police are investigating after two bullets were found at Lakewood High School.

According to school officials, two .22-caliber unused bullets were found by staff members last Thursday.

One bullet was found during the afternoon while school was in session and the other bullet was found during the evening after school was out.

School officials say one was discovered in the hallway by a security guard and the other one in a classroom by a cleaning crew.

There is surveillance video inside Lakewood High School; however the video does not indicate a culprit.

Outside the high school, people were concerned to hear about the incident.

"I'm alarmed that they would find bullets in a school. I definitely think they should do something about that, maybe greater security. It's definitely a matter that needs to be addressed. I hope they can find out who placed them there," said John Underwood, of Lakewood.

Lakewood City Schools has released a statement reading, "The bullets have been turned over to Lakewood Police and an investigation into the source of the bullets is ongoing. There have been no threats made relating to students, staff or school. The district places students’ safety as its top priority and will continue to cooperate with the Lakewood Police with this investigation."
