CANTON, Ohio — The Polar Bear Hockey Club team will, for the second year, wear pink jerseys during its game against the Fremont Hockey Club — and it’s all for a good cause.

The team is joining forces with Jackson Rotary and the Jackson High School Interact Club to raise funds to benefit the Northeast Ohio District Unit of the American Cancer Society.

About 500 tickets will be sold for the Feb. 9 event at the Center Ice Complex. Participants can also bid on jerseys worn during the game, and a silent auction of the 22 jerseys has already begun online.

Participants can also make bids at the game and bid until the last day of February. Winners will get a jersey with their loved one’s name printed on the back.

“Interact Club officers and the Jackson Hockey Club were enthusiastic about sponsoring the event again this year because they learned so much last year and saw the positive effect it had on the participants. They hope the event will continue to gain popularity in the community for years to come,” Jackson Rotary liaison, Mark Clendenin, said in a release.

Tickets are $5 each and can be purchased from any Jackson High School Interact Club member or by emailing info@pinktherink.info.
