2 Die in 2-Vehicle Crash

HURON CO., Ohio — Two people died in a two-vehicle crash in Fitchville Township Saturday.

It happened at about 2:18 p.m. on state Route 162 just west of Town Line Road 79.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Karlie Conaway, 15, of Greenwich, was driving a pick-up truck east on state Route 162. She was traveling with front seat passenger Rodney Williams, 69, and rear seat passenger, Betty Williams, 66, both of North Fairfield.

Meanwhile, Troy Green, 40, of New London, was driving a pick-up truck eastbound on state Route 162. Conaway lost control of her truck, went left of center and was hit in the eastbound lane of state Route 162. Both trucks went off the south side of the road.

All occupants were trapped in their vehicles, reports state, and were extracted by rescue personnel from the New London Fire Department.

Conaway and Rodney Williams were wearing their seatbelts. Betty Williams was not belted in. Rodney and Betty Williams were pronounced dead at the scene.

Green had serious injures and was taken to a local hospital. He was wearing a safety belt. Conaway was also seriously injured.

No charges have been filed. The crash remains under investigation.
