BRIMFIELD TWP., Ohio — A drunken driver found himself in hot water after he pulled into a business and drove into a swamp, Brimfield police report.
It happened Wednesday afternoon on State Route 43.
Police say 60-year-old Dannie Mallicoat drove around in the parking lot for a while before he pulled to the side of the business, then crashed his Cadillac into the swamp.
A couple of Brimfield police officers waded into the water to pull him out. During the sloppy rescue, they discovered something more than an intoxicated driver.
“Oh, and the driver also was chowing down on some tasty fried chicken when he drove into the swamp,” Chief David Oliver said in a Facebook post.
After he was on dry land, Mallicoat took a few field sobriety tests — but it didn’t go so well.
“During field tests, the driver paid homage to E.T. by following Sgt. Knarr’s finger with his own finger instead of using his eyes,” Chief Oliver said.
Mallicoat’s breathalyzer test was .206, nearly three times over the legal limit.
He was charged with OVI.
