Man Killed in Rocky River Shooting Identified
ROCKY RIVER, Ohio — A man has died following a double shooting in Rocky River Tuesday night, police tell Fox 8 News.
The shooting happened at approximately 10 p.m. in the 20800 block of Westway Drive, near Wagar Road. Officers were called there after someone reported hearing a man screaming for help.
When EMS arrived, they found two victims: 39-year-old Michael D. MacGillis, Jr. and a 43-year-old man, who had multiple gunshot wounds.
Both were transported to Fairview Hospital; MacGillis later died.
The second victim’s identity has not yet been released.
Police say they are looking for a suspect’s vehicle, described as an older model, 4-door Sedan, dark in color, with the front bumper skin being lighter in color, possibly tan.
Meanwhile, Chief Kelly Stillman wrote the following message to residents about the shooting:
“As your Chief I want everyone to personally know that I have every available resource on the Rocky River Police Department working on this case now. I am asking for every residents cooperation as this investigation unfolds, if you saw something or did not see something last night at around 10pm in the area of 20879 Westway please give us a call. Something that you feel is not important may be just the information that we need. I want to stress that this appears to be an isolated incident, personal safety is always a concern and in today’s society it is incumbent on each and everyone of us to do everything possible to keep alert, vigilant and be aware of our surroundings. We have an excellent arrest and conviction rate at the Rocky River PD and as further information is available I will keep everyone informed. If anyone needs to personally talk to me I am always here to take your phone calls.”
