CLEVELAND, Ohio — Cleveland police said an arrest has been made in the death of 6-year-old Nevaeh Benson.

No charges have yet been filed, but police say a man was arrested for child endangering and having weapons while under disability in the incident.

Police were called to the 4100 block of East 116th Street Saturday to reports of a child shot around 1:45 p.m.

They found the girl with severe head trauma. She was taken to Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital, where she died.

A preliminary investigation reveals the child may have suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the face.
