Bullets Fly Into Homes During Target Practice

MONTVILLE, Ohio — 911 calls came in to Montville police Wednesday, from people reporting hearing rapid gunfire in a residential neighborhood; with some homes being hit by bullets.

One of the officers who responded to the reports said he heard bullets going over his head.

Two men were found with guns in a backyard on Windfall Road. They were ordered to the ground and taken into custody.

Police say they had several weapons and ammunition on them; including an AK-47 assault rifle with 628 rounds, one 9mm handgun with 50 rounds, one 380 handgun with 8 rounds and one 22 revolver with 40 rounds.

An investigation revealed the men had been drinking alcohol and shooting at paper targets with no back stop.

Two homes, with people inside, were hit by bullets. But, no one was injured.

One of the homes had two AK-47 bullet holes through the walls. One of the bullets was lodged in a kitchen appliance.

Police say the two men will be held in the Montville Jail until charges are filed.
