A new study has found a possible link between drinking diet soda or fruit drinks and depression, according to Yahoo! News.
Researchers questioned about 263,900 adults about their beverage consumption in 1995 and 1996. Ten years later, the same group was analyzed again asked if a doctor had diagnosed them with depression since 2000.
The study found those who drank four or more cans of diet soda were 30 percent more likely to be diagnosed with depression, compared to those who didn’t drink it at all. Compared to regular soda drinkers, the risk for depression in those who drank diet soda was 31 percent versus a 22 percent increased risk. Diet fruit juice drinkers were 51 percent more likely to be diagnosed than those who drank none at all.
