Report: Possible School Shooting Motive

FOX News says Adam Lanza, 20, may have snapped because his mother was planning to commit him to a psychiatric facility. That’s according to a lifelong resident of the area who was familiar with the shooter’s family and several of the victims’ families.

Police say Lanza shot and killed his mother Friday, then went to Sandy Hook Elementary, where he opened fire, killing 20 children and 6 adults. He then killed himself. has also reported Lanza’s mother, Nancy, volunteered at Sandy Hook for years. Two law enforcement sources said they believed she had been volunteering with kindergarteners.
