Indians Trade Shin-Soo Choo In 3-Team Deal
CLEVELAND– The Cleveland Indians, Cincinnati Reds and Arizona Diamondbacks completed a three-team trade on Tuesday night.
The Indians acquired right handed pitchers Trevor Bauer, Matt Albers and Bryan Shaw from the Diamondbacks and outfielder Drew Stubbs from the Reds in exchange for Shin-Soo Choo, infielder Jason Donald, pitcher Tony Sipp and Lars Anderson and cash.
Choo and Donald were traded to the Reds and Sipp and Anderson and shortstop Didi Gregorius (from CIN) are now headed to Arizona.
Bauer, 21, was the third overall selection last year by Arizona and went 12-2 with a 2.42 ERA in 22 starts in Double-A Mobile and Triple-A Reno.
Stubbs, 28, hit 213 with 13 doubles, two triples, 14 homers and 40 RBI in 136 games last year. He stole 30 bases in 37 attempts and scored 75 runs.
Albers, 29, split the 2012 season with the Boston Red Sox and Arizona going a combined 3-1 with a 2.39 ERA in 63 relief appearances.
Shaw, 25, spent 2012 in the Diamondbacks bullpen he went 1-6 with 2 saves and a 3.49 ERA. The Indians 40-man roster remains at 40 after Tuesday’s transactions.
